My career began in the substance abuse and mental health field in 2011 when I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology with an Emphasis in Addictions Counseling from Grand Canyon University and my Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Southern New Hampshire University.. I am certified by the state of Florida as a Certified Addictions Professional, and I hold national accreditation with the IC&RC from the Florida Certification Board. I am also a Substance Abuse Provider for the Department of Transportation and an active member of NAADAC. In addition to my formal education, I also have been in recovery for nearly 2 decades now. I have spent years working in the field of addictions in various capacities and am highly skilled in assisting people struggling with addiction to meet their full potential.
I have also been trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) which teaches clients the skills to manage their emotions. And in EMDR, a process wherein a person can truly be relieved of the traumatic imprint of the past, be that an actual one time event or from years of repetitive harmful messages, and go on to live a full and peaceful life free from the limiting beliefs we all sometimes hold, but which simply are not necessarily true.
I also have a strong background in grief counseling and specifically counsel people rebuilding their lives after child loss. In September 2022, I will be attending a grief retreat seminar and will earn the Certified Advanced Grief Counseling Specialist (CAGCS) accreditation giving me even more tools to pass on to clients experiencing such a life altering loss.
I use a combination of CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, REBT and some straight forward conversation to assist a client in meeting their goals. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is one of the most sacred responsibilities one can achieve and consider it an honor to walk the path with a client, shining a light in the darkness, while we find your way out together.
